Funding for dental, veterinary and healthcare practices

Equipment that costs five figures, staff paid monthly, and a chair that earns nothing the day it stops. Predictable revenue, lumpy costs.

Private healthcare practices — dental, veterinary, physiotherapy, aesthetic — have among the steadiest revenue we see. The difficulty is on the cost side: clinical equipment is expensive, fails without warning, and cannot be worked around. A chair or scanner out of action is revenue that simply does not happen, because the appointments cannot be rebooked into time that does not exist.

Where the money actually goes

A dental chair, an intraoral scanner or a veterinary imaging unit runs well into five figures. When one fails, the cost is the replacement plus every appointment that cannot be delivered until it arrives. Practices routinely lose more in lost capacity than in the equipment itself.

Expansion has the same shape: an additional surgery or treatment room is paid for entirely up front, while the revenue builds gradually as the diary fills.

What operators in this sector actually fund

  • Replacing clinical equipment that has failed or reached end of life
  • Fitting out an additional surgery, chair or treatment room
  • Practice software, imaging or digital workflow upgrades
  • Covering payroll through a seasonally quieter month
  • Clinical training and certification for services you intend to offer

A £35,000 advance, both terms

A dental practice needs £35,000 to replace a failed chair and bring the surgery back into use. On our published rates:

Whether you qualify

Four minimums. Meeting them is not the same as being approved — it is the point at which applying is worth your time:

  • UK limited company or LLP — incorporated and registered at Companies House.
  • 6+ months trading — six months is the least we can work with.
  • £10,000+ monthly turnover — consistent, and visible in the business bank account.
  • Active UK business current account — this is where the underwriting actually happens.

This is business funding for the practice as a limited company. It is not patient finance and it is not clinical advice — how you deploy it is a commercial decision for the practice.

Why the decision being ours matters here

Healthcare practices are usually strong borrowers with steady receipts, but equipment failures do not wait for a panel to circulate a file. Because we lend our own money, the answer comes from us — usually the same working day — which is the difference between a chair back in use this week or next month.

Solvo funds £10,000 to £75,000 from its own book, usually within 24–72 hours of final documents. One decision, made by us — your file is not shopped around a panel. Above £75,000 we arrange the facility with a lending partner.

Frequently asked questions

Do you fund NHS as well as private practices?

We fund UK limited companies and LLPs. Whether income is NHS, private or mixed, the criteria are the same: 6+ months trading, £10,000+ monthly turnover through a business current account.

Is this patient finance?

No. This is working capital for the practice as a business. We do not provide finance to patients.

Can we fund equipment with it?

Yes, and it is one of the most common uses. If you are buying one specific high-value machine, asset finance secured on that machine may be cheaper — tell us what it is for and we will be straight with you.

What does a £35,000 advance cost?

On our published rates, £51,800 total over 20 weeks or £54,250 over 26 weeks, with £33,250 reaching your account after the 5% arrangement fee. Your own rate is confirmed in pounds before you sign.

Illustrative only. Solvo Funding is a UK direct lender for limited companies and LLPs and also acts as an intermediary for facilities above £75,000. Advances are subject to underwriting; meeting the minimum criteria is not the same as being approved and we cannot guarantee an offer. Finance for limited companies and LLPs is generally not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
