How fast can a UK limited company actually get funding?

"Funds in 24 hours" is plastered across the industry. Sometimes it's true. More often the honest answer is two to four working days — and the difference between the two is mostly down to things you control. Here's the realistic timeline, hour by hour.

At a glance
  • Best case: complete application in the morning, offers same day, money 24–48 hours after final documents.
  • Typical case: 2–4 working days from application to funds. Above £75,000, where we introduce you to a lending partner, allow one to two weeks.
  • The two biggest accelerators: six months of clean bank statements ready as PDFs, and director photo ID to hand.
  • No one can guarantee a payout date — every deal is subject to underwriting, ours or a lending partner's. Ltd and LLP companies only.

The realistic timeline, hour by hour

This is how a straightforward case moves through our process when it starts on a working morning. Every file is different, but the sequence is always the same.

  • You apply online

Three minutes, no documents: company name, turnover band, time trading, amount and purpose, your contact details. Nothing is committed and nothing hits your credit file at this stage.

  • We call you back and qualify the enquiry

A short call to confirm the basics, understand what the money is for and ask for your last six months of business bank statements — or a read-only open banking connection, which is faster.

  • Our underwriter decides — no panel, no waiting on someone else

For advances of £10,000 to £75,000 the decision is ours. One of our own underwriters reads your bank statements and prices the deal — your file is not shopped around, and you are not waiting on someone else's credit committee. Above £75,000, and for term loans, we place the file with the lending partner whose criteria fit it best; allow one to two weeks for those.

  • Underwriting and soft credit checks

We verify turnover against your statements and run a soft search on the company and its directors, which leaves no mark other lenders can see. Sometimes we come back with a question or two; fast answers here keep the file moving. Where a lending partner is funding the facility, they do the same.

  • Your decision and your price

Amount approved, the 5% arrangement fee, the total repayable, the weekly payment and the end date — all fixed, all in pounds, before you sign anything. Take the time you need; there's no obligation to accept.

  • You accept and e-sign

Loan or advance agreement and, in most cases, a director's personal guarantee — nearly always e-signed the same day. Every signing director being available is what keeps this to hours, not days.

  • Final checks: ID, KYC and anti-money-laundering

We verify director identity (passport or driving licence), the company's bank account and Companies House record — or the lending partner does, where the facility is theirs. Clean, current documents pass in minutes; mismatched addresses don't.

  • Payout by Faster Payments

Once released, the money typically lands in the company account within minutes — releases happen in office hours. That's the "24–72 hours after final documents" you see quoted on our site.

Best case, typical case, complex case

ScenarioWhat it looks likeTime to funds
Best caseStatements ready, one director, quick responses, up to ~£100k, applied on a working morning24–48 hours
TypicalStatements to chase, an underwriting question or two, normal signing delays2–4 working days
Complex£150k+, several directors to sign, CCJs to explain, filed or management accounts requested1–2+ weeks

Honesty first: these ranges are the timelines business lenders publish for their own processes — they are not promises, and they are not our own case data: Solvo Funding is a new firm. Decisions and payouts sit with the lender, every application is subject to status and assessment, and nobody — us included — can guarantee an approval or a date.

What genuinely speeds it up

  • Six months of clean bank statements, saved as PDFs before you apply. Downloaded from your banking app, not photographed. This single step removes the most common day of delay.
  • Director ID ready. An in-date passport or driving licence for every director who'll sign, with the address matching Companies House.
  • Open banking, if you're comfortable with it. A read-only connection gives lenders the same data as statements in minutes rather than an email chain.
  • Answering the phone. Underwriters work through queues; a file that responds in ten minutes stays at the top, one that responds tomorrow goes to the back.
  • Applying Monday–Thursday, in the morning. A full working day ahead of your application beats a Friday-afternoon start by a whole weekend.
  • A consistent story. The amount, purpose and turnover you state should match what the statements show. Consistency is speed.

What slows it down

  • Missing or unreadable statements — screenshots, photos of a screen, or gaps in the six-month run all trigger re-requests.
  • Unexplained account conduct — returned direct debits, heavy unarranged overdraft use or large unexplained transfers invite questions. A one-line explanation up front saves a day of back-and-forth.
  • Turnover that doesn't match the application — if you say £60k a month and the statements show £35k, underwriting restarts with trust to rebuild.
  • Recent CCJs or overdue Companies House filings — not always fatal, but they always add explanation time. See our eligibility checklist for how lenders read them.
  • Several directors, slow signatures — every signatory on holiday adds days. Warn everyone before the documents arrive.
  • Larger amounts — above roughly £150k, expect requests for filed or management accounts and VAT returns, and a longer, more careful underwrite.
  • Weekends and bank holidays — underwriting and payouts run in business hours, Monday to Friday.

Not sure which product you'd be signing for?

Speed matters less than shape: a fixed-payment term loan and a revenue-based advance behave very differently once the money lands. Our comparison guide — business loan vs revenue-based finance — walks through a worked £50,000 example of both, and the honest eligibility checklist tells you whether it's worth applying at all before you spend even the three minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is 24-hour business funding realistic, or just marketing?

Realistic — but only for clean, complete files. Apply on a working morning with six months of bank statements ready, one director who can sign immediately and quick responses to calls, and same-day offers with next-day payout do happen. It is the exception rather than the rule: two to four working days is the honest expectation for most companies, and no one can guarantee any timescale.

Do I need documents to submit the first application?

No. The initial application takes about three minutes and needs no documents. Bank statements — or an open banking connection — come in at the underwriting stage. Having six months of statements saved as proper PDFs before you apply is the single biggest thing you can do to keep the clock moving.

Will applying quickly hurt my credit score?

No. We start with a soft search, which does not affect your credit score and leaves no mark other lenders can see. A hard search usually happens only before a final offer or payout, and we — or the lending partner, where the facility is theirs — will make that clear to you first.

Why do lenders want bank statements or open banking access?

It is how they verify your real turnover and account conduct — the two things fast underwriting leans on most. A read-only open banking connection shows the same data as statements but arrives in minutes instead of an email chain, which is why it often shaves a day or more off the process.

Do weekends and bank holidays count?

Mostly not. Underwriting and payout teams generally work Monday to Friday business hours. Faster Payments land within minutes once released, but releases happen in office hours — so an application finished on a Friday afternoon usually moves again on Monday. If timing matters, apply early on a Monday to Thursday morning.

Can you guarantee funds by a specific date?

No — and be wary of anyone who says they can. Where we are the lender, the decision is ours and we move as fast as your documents allow, but everything is still subject to underwriting. Above £75,000 the decision sits with a lending partner and their timetable applies. What we can do is be straight with you about which case yours is and keep the process tight at our end.
